I’ve devoted so many posts recently to the light outside that it’s time to come indoors again. This post highlights some innovation approaches to interior lighting design I’ve seen here in Helsinki.

    love it!!! look at the “shadow face” on the wall in the first photo! it’s better than the light! and i wouldn’t mind getting a closer look at the cabinetry in the background either…but that’s a different subject : )

      I agree. The first photo, with its intricate shadow, reminded me of a muppet or some other creature. I also really like the last lighting fixtures.

        Yeah, I really liked that last image of those lights, too. They kind of look like shrink wrap.

      I think that the cabinetry in the background was also designed by Saarinen. And the shadow that this light fixture creates is so specific that I really feel like he must have been conscious of this! It’s amazing!

      Same same! I like the playful shadow too.

      The colors of the recycled plastics are also a “breath of fresh air”
